The Department of Dermatology seeks a Physician Assistant to join our medical practice. This is a fast-paced, outpatient ambulatory care setting, which is primarily a referral service that treats patients with a variety of skin conditions. The Dermatology Department seeks to improve lives through curing and treating skin disorders under the guiding principles of teamwork, caring, innovation, and integrity. This position will coordinate care of dermatology patients by providing independent evaluation and assessment under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities include treating a variety of dermatology conditions (acute and chronic), seeing both new and follow-up patients, and providing interventions for skin conditions. This may include providing dermatological procedures including but not limited to: excisional biopsies, shave biopsies, punch biopsies, KOH and cryotherapy. The Dermatology Physician Assistant exercises autonomy in medical decision making and provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to dermatology patients, including ordering and interpreting reports from diagnostic and laboratory tests. In addition, this individual will provide accurate documentation regarding patient status, evaluations, and treatment. These job duties may be modified depending on the needs of the Department of Dermatology.
Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
ACLS Certification and BLS Certification (completed by start date).
Interest in the field of dermatology.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team is required.
Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks.
Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Able to communicate effectively (oral and written).
Demonstrates professionalism, consideration, and confidentiality towards others in stressful situations.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Full time, Day Shift. Evening, weekend, and/or holiday shifts may be required.
PA will undergo an initial training period before seeing patients independently.
